Youtube is one of the most used sites on the world wide web and is becoming even popular if that can happen. Youtube is free to use by any person and they can upload personal videos or any kind of videos and share it with the world. When I first started using YouTube, there were a lot of videos I wanted to save on the Computer for later viewing but it was quite hard to do so. I started using a FireFox plugin called Video Downloader. It was not the best way to download videos from YouTube. You can only download videos using Video Downloader in FLV format and to watch that video, you will need a FLV player. FLV files don’t play on Windows Media Player or any other player except a FLV player and if you want to save the video in your cell phone, iPod or any other handheld and computers, you need to download and install a FLV file converter. It is a quite a hassle doing all this.

convert-tube-logoSome months ago, I found a site that will let you download YouTube Videos in any format, well in six formats including flv (mpg format, .mov format for playing in quicktime and MACs, .mp4 format for iPod, PSP, iPhone, ,3gp format for cell phones, mp3 and ofcourse .flv). You can use ConvertTube not just download YouTube videos but convert and download any online videos from the web. Convert Tube is free to use but there is a restriction, you can only download a video every eight minutes only. To download videos without a time restraint, you will have to pay a subscription fee of $5 per month. Using Convert Tube is very easy, just paste the videos url (eg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCnhhz9MguA) in the URL field and choose the format you want to download the video in. It is easy as that, no need to install any flv players or install any kind of softwares, it is all done online.

This is the best online video downloader I found till today. I always use it, the only drawback to ConvertTube is, you have to wait eight minutes before you download another video if you are not a registered user ($5/month).

youtubeYoutube when it came into existence was a very new concept on the world of internet. No one thought about the concept that is You Tube. This concept wouldn’t have been successful if broadband connection was as affordable as it is right now. Seriously, who would wait hours on end for a video to load on a dial-up connection. Well since its conception, the idea of uploading videos and sharing them with other internet users has really taken off. I heard about youtube a year or so ago and I really liked the idea. People could share their personal videos or any other videos on the web with others, for free.

I first found youtube when I was looking for basketball videos. In a very short time, the video sharing on the web concept really made its mark. This also created some copyright issues when users began to upload copyrighted materials. Youtube has huge, there are other similar sites but youtube is still the leader in video sharing. This video sharing concept has changed the way we use the web, interact with other people. From a very small visitors to youtube, now it gets about a million visitors everyday and the figure is growing day by day. Thats huge. Even politicians are finding out the power of video sharing and the internet. They are starting to promote their campaign on YouTube video. As youtube grew, big companies like google became interested in the concept and about six months ago (I might be wrong the the time frame) google bought youtube for a huge amount. Google already had a video sharing site called google videos but it never was as popular as youtube. In fact, now there are so many youtube like sites but none is more popular than YouTube. I watch utube videos on a daily basis, specially sports highlights on basketball and football, I can’t imagine living without youtube now and I think many people feel the same way.
