It’s been a really long time since I wrote about great deals. Well, here are two deals and one of them you can’t pass up. The first deal is a SeaGate 1.5TB Barracuda Internal Hard Drive. Here are some information on the Seagate Barracuda® 7200.11 Internal Hard Drive.

This should be pretty obvious from the title, anyways; Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 SATA Internal Hard Drive has a storage capacity of 1.5TB which is huge. seagate-15tb-barracuda-720011-sata-desktop-hard-driveThis Seagate Barracuda SATA Internal Hard Drive has a data transfer rate of 3Gbps. This Serial ATA hard drive also offers a rotational speed of upto 7200RPM and a cache size of upto 32Mb for faster data access.  SeaGate 1.5TB Barracuda SATA Internal Hard Drive is perfectly suited for high-performance PCs, PC gaming systems and media PCs.

Dell is offering a 2-Pack of Seagate 1.5TB Barracuda  SATA Desktop Hard Drives (OEM) for $270 - $70 coupon (QSRDBGRSGP7MFG) = $200 with free shipping. Newegg.com has listed 1-Pack SeaGate 1.5TB Barracuda Internal Hard Drive for $130. Onto the next deal now, which you can’t pass up.

sony-play-station-portable-slim-2000Dell has a deal up for 2000 Series Play Station Portable (PSP) Slim for just $110. The next best price for Sony Playstation Portable Slim (PSP) 2000 is $161. Here are some of the highlights of PSP Slim :

There are quite a lots of laptops people can choose from but not all of them offer the best value for money. One of the most popular laptops today is HP branded. HP laptops looks sleek and performance is not bad either. HP laptops are lot cheaper than Sony laptops and the hardware is not that far off either so it is better to get HP laptop than to get a Sony laptop. Dell on the other hand don’t make sleek laptops, the hardware is great but the looks should put some people off. Dell laptops are usually dull. I also have one, a Dell Vostro 1500. It is great in terms of performance and value for money but it suffers a lot in terms of looks. I wrote about a Dell XPS M1330 laptop some time ago and it is for me one of the best looking laptops Dell has produced till date. You can customize this laptop according to your computing needs and get it for decent price.

dell-xps-m1330_black-laptopIf you don’t need lot of computing power, I suggest you get an all purpose laptop with decent hardware inside it. I got my Dell Vostro 1500 for relatively cheap price ($699 after taxes) and I don’t regret buying it except, I should have got a bigger hard drive. If you are looking for pure performance then it will cost you some money. Here are some of the best laptops performance wise for the year 2007. Now as it is a year older, you will be able to purchase it at a lot less price and get a decent performing laptop for it. It won’t be able to compete with todays top end performance laptops but it should be more than good enough for most of us. Which laptop would you go for, a top end high performance laptop or an all purpose one?

You should see a lot of changes in terms of technologies inside a laptop as they are beginning to outsell desktops now. There is a valid reason for this. First off, laptops are portable and has hardwares derived from lot of research as they need to be a lot more smaller than a desktop hardware has to be. Here is some laptops 2009 news for you. According to Intel, one billion people own laptops and the laptop sale will surpass desktop sell by 2009. Intel are also looking to bring technologies to laptops that will make it affordable for the masses.

P S: If you are looking to buy a laptop right now, just hold on. There is a new coupon which will give you a $200 off on $999+ of purchase on most customizable HP laptops. Here is the $200 off HP coupon (HP coupon code “NB2390“). This coupon can be stacked with other instant rebate offers.

compaq-presario-f762nr-notebook-pcAnother deal on offer here. Not the best of deals but a Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook PC for just $400 is a good deal in my book. Staples has a Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook PC on sale for $400 after $147 instant rebate. This Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook is not the top of the line laptop by any means but for a web surfer and for people who doesn’t need much processing power or don’t want to play new games on it, this is a good choice. Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook is not the lightest of laptops as it weighs 5.68lbs but for $400 who cares. The regular price of Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook at staples is $546.98 but after a $147 instant rebate, the price comes down to $400. For those who want to know, here are the specifications for this Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook:

  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core TK-57 (1.90GHz) processor
  • 1GB of pre-installed RAM (Expandable to upto 3GB if needed)
  • 120GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
  • Super Multi 8X DVD-R/RW with Double Layer Support
  • 15.4″ WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen display
  • NVIDIA GeForce 7000M with up to 287MB
  • 802.11b/g WLAN

staples_logoThis Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook comes with Windows Vista OS pre-installed so I don’t think 1GB of RAM will cut it. If it were me, I would remove Windows Vista and install Windows XP. Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook has a battery that will last up to 2.5 hours depending on what you are doing. Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook comes with a 1 year warranty. The design of this Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook looks slick (better than a Vostro 1500 looking at the picture). If it were me, I would buy this laptop in an instant. I already have one (Dell Vostro 1500) so I don’t need another, otherwise I would have bought Compaq Presario F762NR Notebook. Good value for the money.

dell-vostro-1500I have written a couple of posts on Dell Vostro Laptops before. Well Dell are giving away another great deal on Dell Vostro 1500 Laptops again. This time a Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop would only cost $499. This Dell Vostro Laptop is almost as good as mine. I configured a Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop to suit my needs before I bought it and it cost me $700 including taxes. If you purchase a Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop at default configuration, it would only cost you $499. Not a bad deal if you consider the hardware inside it. Here are the default specifications for this Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop.

  • Intel Core 2 Duo T5270 (1.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
  • Genuine Windows XP Home Edition
  • Microsoft Works 9. Does NOT Include MS Word
  • 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA LCD Anti-Glare Display
  • 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
  • 8X CD/DVD+RW Read and Burn CD and DVD
  • 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
  • 80GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
  • Dell Exclusive MediaDirect Instant Play Software Application
  • Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Internal Card
  • 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
  • 1 Year Basic Limited Warranty plus 1 Year Mail-in Service
  • High Definition Audio 2.0
  • Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem

Well this configuration has 1GB of more Ram than mine. The battery that comes with it ( 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery ) is not that good if you plan to travel a lot with this laptop. You might want to get a 85WHr 9-Cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery. This Dell Vostro Laptop is well worth $499. I don’t regret it a bit and I have been using a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop for 6 months now. Just get a powerful battery and you are good to go. One bad point about this laptop is it is a bit on the heavy side. Other than that, if you consider the usability it is good value for the money.

Dell Vostro Series Laptops are not that great looking. From the design point of view, the Vostro series laptops looks really average. There are some great points to Vostro Laptops though, they usually have a great hardware inside. Vostro laptops are quite heavy also so if you are looking for a light weight laptops, you will have to look elsewhere. Dell Vostro Laptops are priced reasonably and great for personal and small business.

Dell are offering a great deal on three of their Vostro Series Laptops (Vostro 1400, Vostro 1500 and Vostro 1700). If the final price of your selection on these Vostro series laptops is $1249+, Dell will give you a $500 off. No need to apply coupons or anything, your cart will be automatically updated with $500 off. (Cart discount: Save $500 when system priced above $1249)

Get the one you like before the offer expires. Something quite like this happened on an HP deal last time (coupon expired before time because of large purchase). There are lot better looking laptops around but the price of the Vostro series laptops are pretty cheap. There are some cons to Vostro laptops though, they are quite bulky, heavy and the design is pretty average.

dell-vostro-1000Dell has a strong line of Laptops on offer. Not as big as HP but still some of their laptops are a lot cheaper than HP’s Laptops. The design of Dell laptops are pretty basic but the hardware that comes with it is great. I have a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop which i bought for $700 including taxes. The design of the laptop is pretty basic (nothing to wow) but the hardware is great for that price. I am pretty satisfied with it. Dell Vostro 1500 is bit on the heavy side though.

Well Dell are selling their Vostro 1000 series laptops at a cheap price. You can get a Dell Vostro 1000 Laptop for just $419. The price applies if you don’t upgrade any hardware. The default configuration of this Dell Vostro 1000 laptop are:

  • AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual-Core processor TK-57 (1.9GHz/256KB)
  • Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic edition or Genuine Windows XP Home edition (I would suggest you get Windows XP on your system)
  • 15.4″ Wide Screen XGA LCD Anti-Glare Display (You could upgrade it to a 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA LCD Display with TrueLife for an extra $30)
  • 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 Dimm
  • 80GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
  • 8X DVD+/-RW with double-layer DVD+R write capability, Cyberlink Power DVD (There are three optical drives to choose from, you can choose any on of them without adding anything extra to the price)
  • ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 256MB HyperMemory™ (integrated)
  • Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Mini Card
  • 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

dell-vostro-1000Upgrade the primary battery to a 9 cell one (85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery). It only costs an additional $40 but trust me it will come in handy. I have the same battery and it works for 6 hours of basic internet use without pluging in to an AC outlet ( the time varies if you increase the brightness and use optical drives and hard drives). 3.5 hours if you are watching a movie on full brightness. Here is an in-depth review of Dell Vostro 1000 Laptop. It is not the perfect solution for portability as it is quite heavy but the price is just great.

Dell Vostro 200Dell has just dropped the price of their Dell Vostro 200 series mini tower desktop PC. The regular price was $799 but dell has given an instant discount of $300 off of $799 so you can get this mini tower desktop PC for just $499 if you choose the default configuration. You can see the default configuration for Dell Vostro 200 series mini tower desktop PC. This system will have a Windows XP home edition operating system or a Windows Vista Home Basic edition on it which will depend on you. I like Windows XP as it uses very less hardware power than the new Windows Vista Operating system and lot of bugs on Windows XP has been fixed over time in contrast to Windows Vista Operating system. Below are the specs for the Dell Vostro 200 series mini tower desktop PC.

  • Intel Core2 Duo Proc E4500 (2.20GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800FSB)
  • Genuine Windows XP Home Edition or Windows Vista Home Basic
  • Dell 20 inch Widescreen E207WFP Flat Panel Display W/ DVI
  • 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz - 2DIMM

The graphics card on Dell Vostro 200 series mini tower desktop PC is integrated in the mother board so don’t expect too much from it. If you want a gaming sytem, you might want to select a 256mb NVIDIA 8600 GT for an additional $120. This video card will enable you to run almost all the new games on the market today.
