“Not Responding” …..”Operation Timed Out”….frozen screens and God knows what other problems we face everyday on our computers. These issues are always on the back of your head when working, but the most problematic issue that you want to get rid of would be the slow speed of your computer. I always thought why my notebook was slow, and sought ways to speed up my overall performance in any way I could. Alas my worries are now over with just following some advice from a friend.
Unfortunately instead of adjusting a few things, people believe they need to buy a new computer in order to increase laptop speed. My views were initially the same but this just isn’t true. You can. Speed up your laptop in a few easy steps. This I definitely would like to share with you.
Step 1
It is preferred you start by defragging your system files. A disk defragmenter helps in accessing information in a much more speedy way. Whenever you want to process some information or access some file that you usually might not use, your operating system needs to jump from one place to another until it gets the desired file from it’s location. Defragging allows your system to stream information through a single path. This will definitely trigger your laptop computers ability to access and run several programs.
Step 2
On the next step you should consider removing startup programs, as many as possible. Whenever you install some program, it usually has default options which enable it to automatically start a program as soon as the computer starts. These settings slow down the speed with which your computer can start up or shut down. These programs steal another important space known as RAM, which adds immensely to the sluggishness of your computer. Eliminate all those programs that you usually do not use or just go to run button on your Start button and remove all checks that any kind of programs might have on the startup sequence.
Step 3
Third step could be applied by removing all those registry congestions on your system files. This is the most important step that you should follow under any circumstance if you really want to get your computer’s speed boost up. As we download, install new or remove our old programs our registries get flooded with useless and often redundant files. This is the biggest clot your system experiences. These may include any .exe file you used to install or maybe some temporary files required during installation like while installing Ms Office. You get rid of these files and not only do you speed it up but it will not hang (unless of spyware) and neither is it hopefully going to crash in future.
These step are really going to make your computer as if it just appeared to be brought out of it’s box. And if you really are a novice at your computing and configuration, I prefer you use a registry cleaner software that does all the work for you and tweak your computer for better performance.

I believe everyone among us would prefer to have a laptop computer rather than a traditional home based desktop pc. If you ask me what makes a laptop computer a better option than regular desktop computer, it’s the mobility it offers and uncountable advantages that comes along with usage and experience. It is simply nothing but a blessing for all of us!
People on the go make the maximum use of laptop computers’ mobility as it is designed to work on batteries and through direct power supply. Its lets you stay connected to your office, home, business even from distantly remote places, be it in other countries or other continents. Who might think of getting a desktop computer on a plane? while you could use a laptop to look after your multiple business. (You might not be a millionaire but a man can dream can’t he?)
Without laptops, monitoring businesses miles away would have been very difficult. This mobility feature of a laptop gives us the freedom and ability to use computers anywhere. Be it in a restaurant, in a car or places we feel comfortable, we can use laptops as long as we do not disturb others and go beyond rules.
The high-tech features such as built-in camera, speakers, Bluetooth, WiFi device, and infrared and its compact design makes it different and adds to its uncountable benefits which normally doesn’t come in a small package in a desktop computers. However if such features are to be added in a desktop it requires individual purchases and manual installation for both hardware and software.
The size really does matter. When it comes to Mobile Computing, Smaller the better. The computing power of laptop makes it really evident. Small-sized components, architecture of laptop computers are very much distinct from that of desktop computers. However, the performance and operations are in no way affected by the size of computer. Be it a Core 2 duo for your new desktop, the same technology is available on a small laptop.
The new addition to the laptop family known as the wonderful tablet pc has much more to offer. These super small and powerful computers have emerged to revolutionize computing. Energy saving is another feature of laptops as they don’t use up a lot of electricity as compared to CRT and LCD monitors of desktop. Some features such as display difference. Ultra portable laptop or tablet is a major and advance addition to the mobile computers. Emergence of such high-tech, micro and powerful computers has revolutionized the industry to a great deal.
Well there have been instances with a couple of my old high school friends who always complained the slow performance and short battery life of their notebooks. Some of you reading this might give their assent on this comment, but before you even think about giving a bad name to the laptop technology please be sure that you have the adequate configuration to synchronize with your work too. A laptop without graphics card will definitely not show you good gaming results now, would it?

There are quite a lots of laptops people can choose from but not all of them offer the best value for money. One of the most popular laptops today is HP branded. HP laptops looks sleek and performance is not bad either. HP laptops are lot cheaper than Sony laptops and the hardware is not that far off either so it is better to get HP laptop than to get a Sony laptop. Dell on the other hand don’t make sleek laptops, the hardware is great but the looks should put some people off. Dell laptops are usually dull. I also have one, a Dell Vostro 1500. It is great in terms of performance and value for money but it suffers a lot in terms of looks. I wrote about a Dell XPS M1330 laptop some time ago and it is for me one of the best looking laptops Dell has produced till date. You can customize this laptop according to your computing needs and get it for decent price.
If you don’t need lot of computing power, I suggest you get an all purpose laptop with decent hardware inside it. I got my Dell Vostro 1500 for relatively cheap price ($699 after taxes) and I don’t regret buying it except, I should have got a bigger hard drive. If you are looking for pure performance then it will cost you some money. Here are some of the best laptops performance wise for the year 2007. Now as it is a year older, you will be able to purchase it at a lot less price and get a decent performing laptop for it. It won’t be able to compete with todays top end performance laptops but it should be more than good enough for most of us. Which laptop would you go for, a top end high performance laptop or an all purpose one?
You should see a lot of changes in terms of technologies inside a laptop as they are beginning to outsell desktops now. There is a valid reason for this. First off, laptops are portable and has hardwares derived from lot of research as they need to be a lot more smaller than a desktop hardware has to be. Here is some laptops 2009 news for you. According to Intel, one billion people own laptops and the laptop sale will surpass desktop sell by 2009. Intel are also looking to bring technologies to laptops that will make it affordable for the masses.
P S: If you are looking to buy a laptop right now, just hold on. There is a new coupon which will give you a $200 off on $999+ of purchase on most customizable HP laptops. Here is the $200 off HP coupon (HP coupon code “NB2390“). This coupon can be stacked with other instant rebate offers.

This is one of the best deals you will find for any laptop. Acer Extensa EX5620-6419 Laptop Computer will be on discount price at Officedepot starting from June 29 to July 5. The price is great when you consider the hardware inside this Acer laptop. Any other day the Acer Extensa EX5620-6419 Laptop costs $700 but between June 29 and July 5 you can get this Acer Extensa EX5620-6419 15″ Widescreen Laptop for $500 at OfficeDepot after $75 Instant discount and a $125 Mail-In-rebate. The Acer Extensa EX5620-6419 Laptop link I posted above doesn’t have any discounts right now, Check back between June 29 and July 5 to see the full discount offer. I found out about this Acer Extensa 5620-6419 Notebook deal here.
Let me tell you why this deal is great. First off, the main thing that caught my eye was the 3GB of memory. Thats a whole lot of memory and it can be expanded to 4GB if you wish. Acer Extensa 5620-6419 Notebook has a Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 1.83GHz processor with Intel Centrino processor technology. This Acer Extensa Notebook Computer has everything you would possibly need accept for the graphics card. Graphics card and the battery are the two things I don’t like in this Acer Extensa Notebook Computer. The graphics card on this Acer Extensa Laptop is a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and we all know Intel’s graphics card are not the greatest. The battery on this Acer Extensa Laptop is only a 6-cell lithium-ion battery so if you want to use your laptop without plugging it into an electric shocked for a long time, this is not for you. A 6-cell lithium-ion battery will give you about 3 hours of use (my guess). Anyway, other than that everything else looks great. Here are some of the technical specifications for Acer Extensa EX5620-6419 Laptop.
- 15.4″-diagonal widescreen WXGA CrystalBright LCD screen with 1280 x 800 resolution
- Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 1.83GHz processor with Intel Centrino processor technology, 2MB L2 cache
- 3GB of DDR2 SDRAM memory as mentioned above
- 160GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive
- SuperMulti DVD drive with Double Layer support
- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 with up to 358MB shared memory
- Intel 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN
- 4 USB 2.0 ports
- 1 FireWire (IEEE 1394) port
- 1 S-video port
- Integrated Acer Crystal Eye webcam for video chat and still photos
- 5-in-1 memory card reader (can read SD, MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, xD cards)
- ExpressCard/54 slot
- PC Card slot (Type II)
- 6-cell lithium-ion battery 65W AC adapter
I think almost everyone will be satisfied with the hardware on offer here considering the price. Check back again between June 29 and July 5 if you want to buy this Acer Extensa 5620-6419 Laptop.

Building a PC is not that big of a deal if you know what you are doing. For this you need some experience with hardware and software installation. Well to do this you need to buy all the different parts you would need to build your own PC from scratch. This simple step can be quite confusing if you don’t know what you want and what best works with what as there are lots and lots of hardwares available for PC. So you will need some information and some experience to build you own PC. There are some upsides to building your own PC, you could get a high end system for a very low price. A pre-assembled PC of the same configuration would cost much much more than if you build your own PC.
How to Build a Computer? Well for a novice it can be a very confusing and hard task but there are some sites that offer their expertise in building your own PC. Not only that, they will provide you with all the parts and instructions to do so. This way, you won’t have any problems with different parts not being compatible with each other as sites like Easy AS My PC that sell PC building kit would have tested the compatibility of all these parts. These kind of Build your own PC kits are much more cheaper than a pre-assembled ones. Easy AS My PC will also give all the instruction you would need to build your own PC with a very detailed illustration. Besides the kit, you would need only a screwdriver to do so. Doesn’t matter if you are a novice as the instructions are very easy to read and follow.
The best kit found at Easy AS My PC costs $1,199 which is a lot cheaper if you get a pre-assembled PC with the same configuration. This Build your own Gaming PC kit has:
- Fully illustrated assembly guide
- 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 2GB SDRAM (2 x 1GB)
- 250GB Hard Drive
- GeForce 8600GTS 256MB Video
- 16X DVD-ROM
- 750W ATX 12V power supply
- Keyboard and mouse
- Choice of operating system
It is not the best available configuration by far but it is not that bad either. For the best configuration, you would want to get a quad core processor and a bit more of RAM plus a Video Card with at least 512MB of Video RAM. I would also get a DVD Writer or even a BluRay optical drive if you want to go state of the art but it would cost you considerably much more money. Power supply and Hard drive looks good but you could get a bigger hard drive, maybe a 1TB hard drive. Thats just me though. This system should be enough for a regular gamer. Well, if you know what you are doing, you should get your own parts and customize it to suit your needs. This system is geared towards novices for building their own PC and save some money doing so.

I have written a couple of posts on Dell Vostro Laptops before. Well Dell are giving away another great deal on Dell Vostro 1500 Laptops again. This time a Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop would only cost $499. This Dell Vostro Laptop is almost as good as mine. I configured a Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop to suit my needs before I bought it and it cost me $700 including taxes. If you purchase a Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop at default configuration, it would only cost you $499. Not a bad deal if you consider the hardware inside it. Here are the default specifications for this Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop.
- Intel Core 2 Duo T5270 (1.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
- Genuine Windows XP Home Edition
- Microsoft Works 9. Does NOT Include MS Word
- 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA LCD Anti-Glare Display
- 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
- 8X CD/DVD+RW Read and Burn CD and DVD
- 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
- 80GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
- Dell Exclusive MediaDirect Instant Play Software Application
- Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Internal Card
- 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
- 1 Year Basic Limited Warranty plus 1 Year Mail-in Service
- High Definition Audio 2.0
- Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
Well this configuration has 1GB of more Ram than mine. The battery that comes with it ( 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery ) is not that good if you plan to travel a lot with this laptop. You might want to get a 85WHr 9-Cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery. This Dell Vostro Laptop is well worth $499. I don’t regret it a bit and I have been using a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop for 6 months now. Just get a powerful battery and you are good to go. One bad point about this laptop is it is a bit on the heavy side. Other than that, if you consider the usability it is good value for the money.

Sony VAIO laptops usually cost a lot of money. Compared to the same specification laptops from other companies, a Sony VAIO laptop’s price is sky high. Well, I found a cheap Sony VAIO laptop. Bestbuy is selling the Sony VAIO T2310 Laptop for just $550. The specifications of the Sony VAIO T2310 Laptop looks pretty good except for the processor’s L2 cache. Sony VAIO T2310 Laptop just has a 1MB l2 cache which will effect the performance if you are operating multiple processor hungry programs at the same time (specially installing two or more softwares at the same time). Bestbuy hasn’t listed the battery specification, I don’t know the detail on that either. Sony VAIO T2310 Laptop listed at bestbuy is only available in Granite color. Here are the details of the Sony VAIO T2310 Laptop.
- Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core 1.6GHz processor with 1MB L2 Cache
- Windows Vista Home Premium Operating System
- WXGA widescreen Display with XBRITE-ECO technology (1280 x 800)
- 1GB PC2-4200 DDR2 RAM (Expandable up to 2GB)
- 160GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm) Hard Drive
- 1 ExpressCard/34 PCMCIA Slot
- 4 USB2.0 port, 1 Firewire port
- Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
- Double-layer DVD±RW/CD-RW optical drive
- Built-in high-speed Atheros wireless LAN (802.11b/g), a 56k Modem, and a network card
The Sony VAIO T2310 LaptopWeighs 6.2 lbs. so it is pretty light. Shipping is not free and a standard shipping will set you back $20. It will take about a week to reach the destination. Not the cheapest laptop but the Sony VAIO T2310 is certainly the cheapest Sony VAIO laptop around.
