About 5 years ago, broadband internet connection was just a dream for normal people as it was too expensive to get one. People used Dial-up connection to connect to the internet and it was too damn slow. Still, lots of people use dial-up connection to browse the web. Not a very practical way to surf the web now a days because websites has been upgraded to suite a broadband connection and included a lot of graphics to make it more attractive. These pages would take a long time to load on a dial-up connection.
Personally speaking, I still don’t have access to a broadband connection. I use a cable connection with the speed of upto 128kbps. Still a lot slower than a broadband connection but a hell of a lot faster than a dial-up. Broadband speed matters if you are downloading huge files or watching videos on the web. 128kbps is still not enough to accommodate all these things.
To find out the speed off your broadband connection, there are lots of sites on the web and most of them show accurate broadband speed. This can’t be said to all of the internet speed test sites. You can use this broadband speed test site to test your internet speed. This web application provides very accurate data on your broadband speed. Other than a broadband speed test web application, they also provide list of all the best broadband internet providers found in the United Kingdom. From budget broadband to the fastest broadband available. The information found on broadband expert should help anyone who is getting a new broadband internet connection or trying to change to another service provider.
My cable internet connection is just 100kbps for download and 21kbps for upload. Mine is one of the slowest high speed internet connection you can get. The picture attached on this post is a screenshot of the speed test I did on Broadband Expert. I upgraded it from the last one i had which was just 64kbps. You should also check my archived post on internet speed test. There is another of one of the good internet speed test sites.

It can be quite challenging to make your mind up for a subscription to a particular ISP that provides broadband internet. There has been a boom in the broadband industry and lots of companies have their own price and speeds they provide. Everyone would like to get the fastest speed available but there are some things you need to consider before committing to one. Some Broadband providers place a bandwidth cap per month and that is not a good thing if you use the internet to download lots of stuffs.
First thing you need to do before you decide to subscribe to a broadband service is do some in depth research and find out what different companies provide for what price.
Then comes the part where you will need to compare broadband packages from different ISP’s. You should not by any means decide just by looking at the price. There might be some download limitations, so you need to look at that too. Some companies might also charge you a setup fee.
After you have done all the research you can do and compared the packages and prices, you can then decide which package best suits you.
You might also want to check the speed of your current broadband connection. You can take a broadband speed test here. For people who want a continuous broadband connection on the go, you might want to get a mobile broadband service.
Broadband Genie is the perfect place to visit if you want to do some research, compare prices and package from different companies. Doesn’t matter what kind of broadband you are looking for, you can find it all with the help of Broadband Genie. They will provide you with a buyers guide and offer reviews of different broadband services which are written by them.

Just five years before, we couldn’t have imagines that we would be surfing the internet with the speed we are right now. It ia absolutely insane. Before, we could only use a dial-up connection to use the internet and high speed connection was only provide via DSL lines, which was very expensive at the time and was out of reach of most people. Now we can get a high speed broadband internet connection for a reasonable price. ISP’s provide broadband connection speed of upto 30Mbps but they are very expensive. Well a regular broadband connection speed would satisfy the needs all internet users. An 8Mbps connection is not a joke, I only get 128Kbps on a cable. Well i could get upto 256Kbps if i get a wifi subscription, which I plan to do in a couple of months time. Bt.com offers high speed wi fi broadband package to consumers. The subscription price is reasonable, still a bit high. Well, if you get a wireless broadband connection from BT, they have quite an interesting package on offer.
- Wireless BT Home Hub with BT Hub phone
- A fast, reliable connection with up to 8Mb download speed
- Unlimited downloads
- 24/7 customer support
- An additional phone line with inclusive UK calls
- Unlimited Wi-Fi minutes per month
- BT Vision ready - get access to thousands of hours of entertainment
- Hassle-free installation available
- 5GB FREE secure online storage with BT Digital Vault
- Advanced online security
- Get great savings on travel, leisure, food and drink
All this would cost you £18.99 per month for the first six months and £24.99 after that. This subscription price applies if you commit to an eighteen month contract. The price might seem a bit high for some people, it is for me but still if i could get this package, I would be happy to pay that amount for it as right now I can only get internet speed of 256kbps. I wonder what I would do if I had a 8Mbps internet connection. The above price is for option 3. If you get an option 1, the price is £8.95 per month for the first six months and £17.99 after the six month period is over. This price is only applicable if you commit to an eighteen month contract. If you subscribe to a Wireless Broadband Option 1, you will get:
- Standard Wired Router worth £25 for free
- A fast, reliable connection of up to 8Mb download speeds
- 5GB monthly download allowance
- An additional phone line with inclusive UK calls
- 250 Wi-Fi minutes per month
- BT Vision ready - get access to thousands of hours of entertainment
- Hassle-free installation available
- 5GB FREE secure online storage with BT Digital Vault
- Basic online security
I don’t like the 5GB monthly download allowance part, other than that option 1 looks good.
