Apple only produce quality products. I love what they have done to the portable music player industry. I have an iPod which I bought about a year ago (iPod Video 5.5 Gen). I have never been so satisfied with any other technological gadget. A friend of mine owns an Apple AirPort Extreme and he is more than satisfied with its performance. I ve tried this router, great, better than netgear!
I purchased the Airport Extreme (and an Express for streaming music and shaing a printer) and also a USB external hard drive. The prompts on the screen tell me to first connect the hard drive to my computer for repair but there is no instructions on how to affect the repair. If I plug it back into the Airport Extreme the amber light begins flashing again until I unplug the hard drive. I am at a loss for what to do to rememdy this situation. Maybe its a problem with your USB hard drive? I don’t know, never had this problem.
I am running Windows XP SP2 (since this things claims it can work with a Mac or a PC. Every time I get it to where I think itis set up, it tells me that I am now ready to run it with a USB printer. No, that is definitely not what I want. I purchased a Seagate FreeAgent GO 160GB USB hard drive to work with it. I am getting an eror that says there is something wrong with my disk and if I disconnect it and then connect it directly to the computer it will fix itself. This is an outright lie. It does absolutely nothing ro repair itself. Apple’s electronic and printed documentation are not worth the paper and plastic they are recorded on. Additionally, I have an AirPort Express so that I can make use of the WDS features. Not one single thing about their installation, operastion or troubleshooting seems to be easy, automated or intuitive. Can anyone offer advice before I chuck this thing out my 12th story window? I would really appreciate it.

One of my friends is using this device. He says the device is superb and working fine so far.
The USB drive had to be formatted to FAT32. Which I did. I plugged the disk back into the AirPort and everything is supposed to automatically be recognized and become available to the computers on the network. This is a bold faced lie. I think I am going to stick the thing in the microwave and watch it go out in a beautiful shower of sparks. That’s about all it is worth to me when it doesn’t do the things it is supposed to do.
